Molly Kooi is a single mom, employee, intern, and full-time student. You might be surprised to know that she also struggles with hunger and food insecurity.
Kooi wants people to know that when it comes to hunger, “It’s just average people who need help.”
Kooi has participated in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), but many times, she still needs help making sure that both she and her son have enough food on the table. To supplement her needs, Kooi visits local food pantries.
An estimated one in every six Americans faces hunger, and food pantries are one important resource in the national fight against food insecurity. As Kooi says, “So many people that you see on a regular basis are going to these things.”
Koi wants to spread awareness that many average people who work hard and are doing their best to make ends meet still face hunger and need help. You can read more about her story here.
