It is crazy to think that 2015 is almost over. We are so thankful for each and every one of you in helping us achieve so much this year. Feed the City has been a success, we have launched in new cities, over 1 million people have been fed, and our partnerships with restaurants and companies are continuing to grow. From now until the end of the year, we are going to reminisce on moments that made this year a great one. Our first is when we were mentioned in an article in Entrepreneur titled, “These Apps Could Solve America’s Huge Food Waste Problem.”

Apps Entrepreneur Finds Helpful

Back in May, Entrepreneur compiled a list of apps that help our food waste problem and people suffering from hunger.

As hunger continues to be a serious global challenge, food is the most-wasted resource in America. An estimated 35 million tons of food were thrown away in 2012, and that amount has been continually rising…1

There needs to be a connection between the two; those that need food and those that dine out or throw food away that is perfectly edible. Some of the apps listed connect people who are getting rid of food to food pantries, charities, and shelters. One app builds on the idea of sharing food pics on Instagram to donate a meal to someone in need. Amongst these, TangoTab was listed as “You Get a Deal, Someone Hungry Gets a Meal”.

Thank you, Entrepreneur

We were so thrilled to be featured in this article. We hope that many people were inspired to make a difference and make our app part of their routine when they dine out. We are continuing to add more restaurants and launch in cities around the country to feed more and more people. If you didn’t get a chance to read the article, you can read it here

Join the fight against hunger, download the app, and spread the word to anyone you know. We can all make a difference and help our neighbors out.
